The Department of Philosophy, History, Culture and Art Studies (http://www.helsinki.fi/phca/) belongs to the Faculty of Arts, University of Helsinki, and has a strong profile in the multidisciplinary research and teaching of the humanities.
The Department of Philosophy, History, Culture and Art Studies invites applications for the part-time (50%) position of
CURATOR
to start on 1 May 2011 until further notice. The field of the position is philosophy. There is a four-month trial period for the position.
The curator will be responsible for the maintenance and development of the von Wright and Wittgenstein Archives in cooperation with the steering group, director and possible other employees of the Archives.
The curator will be hired under the title of postdoctoral researcher. The qualification requirements shall be an applicable doctoral degree and the ability to conduct independent scholarly work. In addition, the position requires good competence in English, Swedish and Finnish as well as at least a good passive knowledge of German. A qualification in library studies or an equivalent qualification and related work experience as well as experience of scholarly archives can be considered an asset.
The salary will be based on level 5 of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance.
