A critique of our own: On the epistemic habits of academic feminism

 

We warmly welcome you to participate in our symposium: "A Critique of Our Own: On the Epistemic Habits of Academic Feminism", April 14th-16th, 2016 in Turku.

 

The symposium is organized by the Academy of Finland financed research project: Timelines of Academic Feminism in Finland.

 

Keynotes: Professor Rita Felski (University of Virginia) & Professor Clare Hemmings (London School of Economics).

 

Participation is free of charge. You can register by sending an email to varpu.alasuutari[at]utu.fi indicating that you would like to participate. Dinner is included in the Friday evening program but due to limited space, dinner registration is limited to attendees on a first come, first served basis. So, when registering, please indicate if you would like to have dinner on Friday evening.

Thursday 14th of April at 2 pm:

Keynote: Professor Rita Felski, University of Virginia, "Identification: A Defense" (chair: Professor Lea Rojola)

3 pm: Coffee break

3.30 – 5 pm: Comments by Professor Ellen Mortensen and Professor Hanna Meretoja

5.30 pm: Concluding discussion

 

Friday 15th of April at 10 am:

Keynote: Professor Clare Hemmings, LSE: "Is Gender Studies Singular? Epistemologies of Queer/Feminist Difference" (chair: Dr. Ulrika Dahl)

11.15 am: Coffee Break

11.30-12.30 pm: Comments by Dr. Sari Irni and MA Salla Peltonen

 

12.30 - 2 pm: Lunch

 

2-5 pm: Afternoon session
