The first annual NFY lecture, Ericka Tucker: "Power and Empowerment"; 5.11., Helsinki

The first annual NFY lecture "Power and Empowerment: from Spinoza's Affect Theory to Development Practice" will be held by Dr. Ericka Tucker on *November 5th 2013*, 17:00-19:00, at the University of Helsinki, Main Building (Fabianinkatu 33, lecture hall 15).

In her paper "Power and Empowerment: from Spinoza's Affect Theory to Development Practice" Dr. Tucker argues that Spinoza's theory of power answers development practitioners' calls for a concept of power that can be used to measure 'women's empowerment', a goal of many international development programs.

Dr. Ericka Tucker is Assistant Professor of Philosophy and affiliated faculty in Women’s and Ethic Studies at Cal Poly Pomona (USA).

The lecture co-organized by the Association for Women and Feminist Philosophers in Finland (NFY) and Philosophical Psychology, Morality and Politics Research Unit (PMP).

You are warmly welcomed! The event is free of charge and does not require preregistration.
